About us

You Are My Rock Star has been in my heart for years. After over a decade of weddings, the purchase and renovation of the Silo Event Center, the chaos and survival of the pandemic, and countless stories in the event industry, I am here to write a new chapter of hope and generosity towards some of the most remarkable members of our community.

Hi! My name is "OOGO" Gutierrez. I am the owner of the Silo, and the founder and owner of LionsRoad Studios. I recently celebrated my 1000th wedding as a professional DJ, and I have the crazy dream to celebrate this achievement by sponsoring another 1K weddings, as a gift to the Rock Stars of the city that has made my dreams come true. These sponsorships are a way to recognize our unsung heroes and pay it forward to inspire generosity and bring together our communities in celebration of the brave and the selfless.

An American Dream Story

Yes, "OOGO" is Hugo but phonetically in Spanish. I was born and raised in Colombia. I came to the US as an international student to ORU, and casually started teaching friends and classmates how to dance Salsa, Merengue and other steps typical of Colombian culture. What I didn't anticipate is that my teaching style would become so popular, a few months later I had over 500 people coming to my "salsa nation" parties.

At those parties I exchanged knowledge with several groups of dancers, becoming fluent in ballroom, two-step and swing dancing, among others. Then I started to get request to do events and weddings, as I became the matchmaker by accident to may of my salsa students, which led to the start of a career in the wedding industry as a DJ. In 2010 I started LionsRoad Studios, and before long I made it into a company that served hundreds of weddings yearly, and raised the bar of service in the industry with love and dedication to our couples and corporate clients.

On a personal note, In 2007 I married the love of my life, Erica, and we have 3 children 11 and under, who keep us busy and bring us joy, among other intense emotions at times, ha! Faith and family values are at the center of everything we do. We are far from perfect, but we're kind, humble and strong. Our businesses, while very professional, are very much family-owned and operated, as we love on our couples and clients.

After nearly a decade in the wedding industry I had the opportunity to level up as a DJ, when I heard that the Silo Event Center was for sale. I didn't quite have all the funds needed for the down payment, but thanks to my track record as a business owner, and the help of my network, I became the proud owner of this gorgeous venue in 2018. I then started a two-year journey to renovate it from very rustic to a modern farmhouse style. Just as we finished renovating, and were hoping to recover our investment, the pandemic hit, and I'm sure I don't have to tell you how difficult those years have been for all of us in several paths of life, including the wedding industry. But we survived, and now thrive again, doing what we love, for some amazing people.

Last year I DJ'ed my 1000th wedding, and as I reflect on my journey, I can't help but be grateful for America, the only place in the world where a crazy Colombian kid could dream big, work hard, and see his dreams come true, as I continue to make my couples' dreams come true. That is the heart behind You Are My Rock Star: to match the generosity of many of you, with the dreams of selfless people who give tirelessly to our community, and match them together with my expertise in the wedding and event industry, to give them the celebrations and memories of a lifetime.

That is the kind of legacy I would like to leave in this industry, and hopefully inspire venue owners and event pros nationally to do the same and reward "Rock Stars" everywhere for their impact in our lives. So I invite you to join me in this dream of 1000 sponsored rock star weddings and events. If you can give, please DONATE what you can today. Every dollar counts. If you can SHARE and spread the word, please help me make this as big as possible. If you know someone who is a Rock Star in our community, NOMINATE them. If you are able to help in their celebrations, VOLUNTEER! Let's make dreams come true together and change the wedding and event industry into one of generosity.

Meet Our 2024 Rock Stars

Lacy & Colby

Meet Lacy, a resilient and dedicated individual whose journey has been defined by courage and service. Enlisting in the United States Army at just 17 years old, Lacy's commitment to her country led her to Fort Carson, CO, where she honed her culinary skills at the prestigious Broadmoor Hotel and earned a coveted spot on the U.S. Army Culinary Arts Team. Despite facing combat and sustaining both physical and mental injuries, Lacy's unwavering dedication saw her through deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, though she was unable to complete the five years needed for military retirement due to her injuries.

Transitioning to civilian life, Lacy found a new purpose as the Airport Security Manager at Tulsa International Airport, where she crossed paths with Colby, an Operations Specialist, sparking a love story destined for eternity. Their journey together culminated in a heartwarming Christmas tree proposal in 2023, surrounded by loved ones. Embracing her resilience and passion for service, Lacy embarked on a new chapter as the Executive Assistant to the President at Community HigherEd, where she has become a beacon of hope and support for fellow veterans and mental health awareness advocates. Through her advocacy and compassionate leadership, Lacy is dedicated to making a positive impact beyond the battlefield, inspiring others to find strength and healing in their own journeys.

Kaitlyn & Chase

Meet Chase, a Tulsa native driven by an unwavering commitment to protect and serve his community. From his days as an athlete at Jenks High School to earning a degree in Criminal Justice at Missouri Southern State University, Chase's journey has always been guided by his dream of becoming a Tulsa police officer. Since joining the force in January 2021, Chase has dedicated himself to making a meaningful difference, from saving lives to keeping dangerous elements at bay. His courage and compassion embody the true spirit of a rock star.

Alongside Chase is Kaitlyn, whose journey from a small Kansas town to Owasso, is a testament to her resilience and passion for helping others. With degrees in Public Health and Healthcare Administration from Oklahoma State University, Kaitlyn has dedicated her career to making a positive impact in healthcare. Meeting Chase just before his application to the Tulsa Police Academy, Kaitlyn's life took an unexpected turn, but she embraced the unique challenges of loving a first responder with grace and determination. Despite the uncertainties, Kaitlyn's unwavering support for Chase reflects the depth of their bond and their shared commitment to making a difference. Your sponsorship will not only celebrate their love but also recognize their dedication to serving our community.
